How to lose weight for summer
Q) How can I lose weight for summer time? Tips and advice needed please. I’m 13 years old and about 5’3-5’4 . I weigh about 108 pounds, so I’m not fat or anything, but I’m very untoned and I want to lose at least 10lbs for summer. Any good exercises to tone stomach, bum and legs ? And any good diet tips etc ?
A) PLEASE don’t do this. At 5’4″ your current Body Mass Index (BMI) is 18.5 – right at the bottom end of normal. You are tiny! And you are only 13! If you try and lose weight now, you could stunt your growth for ever. If you achieved your ‘goal’ of no more than 98 pounds in weight, you would be seriously underweight and could end up shorter than you should be for life.
Take any advice that other people give you for toning up (swimming is fantastic for toning and building the 3 S’s – strength, stamina and suppleness) but please don’t do any diet tips that you may be given.
Enjoy your lovely body as it is now – I bet you can wear any clothes you like and your friends must envy you. I had anorexia at little more than your age – you really don’t want to head in that direction.
Sorry if this isn’t what you want to hear, but a lot of people on these pages really do care and we just can’t give you advice that would ruin you.

I’m trying phaes 1 for the 3rd time as i found it difficult to sick to i was diagnosed with candida 12 months ago so this is probably why, i just wanted to know phase 1 has a lot of eggs in it i thought to many eggs were bad for you and if i cut some of them out wil it still work thanks sarah.
Hi Sarah – eggs are not bad for us. I do sympathise with you thinking this as so many publications tell us so much nonsense. Why are we not bombarded with literature telling us that sugar, sweeteners, emulsifiers and maltodextrin are bad for us?! Eggs are one of the most natural foods on the planet and are up there with liver as possibly the most nutritious food on the planet (egg yolk takes some beating by any other food for nutrients per gram). If you are worried about cholesterol, don’t be! Use the search box on this site or on http://www.zoeharcombe.com to see articles on cholesterol and/or read the brilliant “Great Cholesterol Con” by Dr Malcolm Kendrick. However, you can also hear the words of Ancel Keys – ironically the man who started the whole downer on fat and cholesterol in the first place. He was quoted in 1997 saying “There’s no connection whatsoever between cholesterol in food and cholesterol in blood. And we’ve known that all along” University of Minnesota.
Even Edwina Currie had to eat her words when she wrongly attacked eggs (and lost her job in the process). You should avoid RAW eggs if pregnant and that’s it!

I have two kidz. i want to loose atleast 10 kgs. i came across your diet and i found it really interesting. i would like to give it a try. however i am not sure how long do i suppose to be on phase 1 and when do i move to phase 2 and what to eat? i am currently 60 kgs. i feel i have alot to loose around my belly. i am currently living in the middle east and it is not easy for me to have access to your book. please advice….
