In case you missed it, it is still available in the free stuff part of The Shop.

I’m about to embark on my Harcombe journey. I was diagnosed years ago as having IBS but after much research I realised I was a candida sufferer. My GP actually said its not a recognised condition in the UK which astounded me. I was an avid Atkins fan which did keep me in check but found it too severe at times. I am awaiting your books in the post and I have one question to ask about phase one in the meantime and that is are tomatoes classed as a fruit or are they okay to have in your salads. Many thanks.
Hi there – tomatoes are fine for Phase 1 – many of the recipes use them and they are great on salads.
I addressed the Candida issue somewhere else and I can’t find it so I’ll repeat it, as it’s an important one:
1) Fact – Candida is a yeast which lives inside all of us. I can’t believe that any doctor would dispute this.
2) Fact – Candida can get out of ‘balance’ and show up in the form of thrush, athletes foot, dandruff – as the most visible symptoms. I can’t believe that any doctor would dispute this.
3) The area of dispute is how bad can a person feel when it does get out of control. To be fair to your GP – s/he is mostly right to say it is not a recognised condition. Not because it shouldn’t be, but because the medical profession is more comfortable with broken legs than broken immune systems. The first questions when we walk into the doctors should be “how are you?” and “tell me what you eat and do on a daily basis”. This would tell us so much about the person’s health. I rarely go to the doctors, but even during my eating problem times (when I went regularly) I was never asked what I ate.
You will find out for yourself if Candida is a problem a) because you could feel quite rough during Phase 1 and experience some of this parasite literally dying off inside you and then b) you should feel hugely better when you are on an ideal diet for Candida (Phase 1)
Good luck on your journey and see if doc is up for learning from you!
Very best wishes – Zoe
