Cravings
Cravings are so important in The Harcombe Diet. The entire rationale behind the diet is the need to eliminate cravings, by managing the 3 conditions, so that cravings don’t return and you can stick to a healthy eating plan. There is a specific section in the Q&A about cravings. These are the questions that are answered in this section:
Q) How does Candida cause food cravings?
Q) How does Food Intolerance cause food cravings?
Q) How does Hypoglycaemia cause food cravings?
Q) Why do I have to stop eating the foods I most like?
Q) Why have I had these cravings?
Q) Will cravings go away?
Q) When will they go away?
Q) How do I stop ‘good’ days and ‘bad’ days?
Q) How do I stop being a food addict?
Q) I have hit a problem with cheese, I can’t stop eating it. My craving for chocolate is long gone, but has now been replaced by cheese. What do you suggest I do? Thanks in advance.
Q) I am puzzled why I have sugar cravings straight after eating a meal. I just ate a carbohydrate meal consisting of brown rice and spinach, so I should not feel anything. Is this normal? Or is this connected to Candida, Food Intolerance and low blood sugar?
I would stay off very sweet fruits for a few weeks
Q) This is my 7th day on Phase 1, and I do feel great, and for the first time in ages, I’m able to sleep at night. However, I can’t believe how much I am craving chocolate. The reason I am still on Phase 1 is because I am afraid to leave it, because my cravings for chocolate are still so strong. I feel lost without chocolate, but am hoping that eventually the cravings will subside. My questions are:
- Is it normal to still be obsessed with chocolate after the 5 days?
- Will choosing to stick to Phase 1 help banish cravings more so than if I moved on to Phase 2?
Zoë I consider this the hardest, and most important thing I’ve done so far in life, and I cannot imagine a life that isn’t obsessed with eating.
I tried Phase 1 a few times before and ‘given in’ around day 3 every time!
I’ve read all the positive testimonials, but my truth is that I’m finding this tearjerkingly hard!
So Zoë, should I continue with Phase 1?
Q) In two days time I’ll be moving onto Phase 2, and I’m really looking forward to eating fruit again. I’m concerned with the ‘no vegetable juices allowed’ rule. I make my own juices and don’t know if I’ll be able to cope without my carrot, celery, cucumber and apple juice, or even my strawberry, blueberry, banana and orange juice, which I mix with live yoghurt for a fab breakfast. Do I have to ban them?
