Can I have fruit teas in Phase 1?

Q) Can I have fruit teas in Phase 1?

A) Yes – I just group all such things under ‘herbal teas’ – so everything from peppermint to chamomile to rosehip, blackcurrent, raspberry and vanilla – any such teas are absolutely fine in any phase of the diet. They always smell better than they taste I find!

    Hello, I’m on phase 1.
Is green tea ok because it has caffeine in it?
    Many thanks

Suprisingly, Green tea has about the same caffeine levels as coffee. There’s a full fact-sheet in the club.

    Hi zoe,
I’ll have started phase 1, and already getting sick of fruit, herbal teas and water, I’ll normal drink cola during the day for a soft drink. Is their any other soft drink that I’m able to have during the day???

Try getting used to making water your drink of choice when thirsty. If you’re not thirsty, don’t drink. Best keep off ‘soft drinks’, really.

That’s the problem, I’ll can’t stand the tast of water, and when I’ll do get thirt I’ll will make a cup of decaffe or fruit tea, but I’ll don’t want to keep drinking them all the time, is their anything else to drink?

    Hi Zoe,

I’m on phase 1, can I drink loose leaf green tea? It’s called gunpowder leaves. And if not can I introduce it back in on phase 2?

    Thanks
    Elaine

Hi there, I’m currently in stage 2 and will be attending a 3 day work seminar followed by the christmas dinner, whilst I think I’ve got my head around what I can have for breakfast and meals I’m after advise for the christmas party. Specifically regarding alcohol, I’m heavily candida and whilst I don’t want to deprive myself of the odd tipple I’ll definitely stay away from beer. Unfortunately I’m not a red wine drinker either. Are there any ‘less bad’ choices I can make?

I have just been diagnosed with oesteoporosis. Should I cut back on meat in phase 1?

Hi Frances – you may like to up your fish intake, as this is high in calcium, vit D and phosphorus – the bone nutrients. Eggs are also a great Phase 1 source of these nutrients. Meat is not so good for these but better for many B vitamins and zinc.

I know that there are claims that meat is not good for bone health but we have been eating meat for c. 3.5 million years and osteoporosis does not appear to have been a problem during this time. That blows the logic for me! I suggest that people who claim that meat is bad for bones are the same people that claim meat is full of saturated fat (false), meat causes heart disease (false), meat causes diabetes (ludicrous) and so on.

If real meat were bad for us we’d have died out long ago!

I live in Pakistan. Have just completed the second day of phase 1. Hoping to get good results. Just want to know how I can order your books from here.

Hi Arshia – we ship internationally from our club shop (http://shop.theharcombedietclub.com/) or ebooks (also in the shop) would be the fastest way to get the book. If you have a Kindle or iapp – the books are on both of these available from amazon.com/itune store
      Hope this helps!

    Hi Zoe,
Thanks for the response, it’s a chamomile and honey teabag and silly as this may sound, the smell of the honey was overwhelmingly tempting! I’ve stuck them at the back of the cupboard and am avoiding for present. Having lost nearly a stone and a half in the last 3 weeks I’m not putting temptation in my path!
    Thanks for a great book.

Hi Alison – any herbal tea/fruit tea/decaf tea is fine. So if Camomile and honey is a variety of tea it’s fine. If you mean camomile tea with honey added – it’s not fine – there’s a question on honey in the book
    Hope this helps
    Best wishes – Zoe
