Can I have Tahini?

Q) Can I have Tahini?

A) Tahini is a sesame seed paste. I’ve checked my nutrition composition database and it only lists Tahini in a sesame butter form (it must be butter based, therefore).

It lists 100g of tahini as containing 53g fat and 22g carb (protein is 17g and the rest is water), so it mixes at source, just as nuts and seeds do (makes sense).

Not good even for Phase 2, therefore, but OK as a cheat for Phase 3.

    Hi Andy
I am a Vegetarian with Vegan tendancies. How much quorn/tofu is allowed on Phase one please? I am ok with eggs – just looking for an alternative.
    Thanks

on pages 308-309 of the recipe book there is a recipe for falafel. I don’t understand why it’s not acceptable for persons with candida. please let me know, as falafels are one of my favorite things! thanks.

Hi Sheila – nice spot! There is a caveat on P3 of the book that we have not ticked “suitable for Candida” for any recipe containing bread/breadcrumbs and this would have missed a tick due to the wholewheat flour. However, as there is an alternative suggested – rice flour – we can put in a tip – use rice flour to be suitable for Candida and add a “can be” in the box instead! We have made the amend on the running edit copy so it will be in the next edition. Meanwhile enjoy them with rice flour and many thanks for your spot!
      Very best wishes – Zoe

Hi Hannah – many thanks for this – you’re absolutely right. I should have said the one I have nutritional info for is butter based (this is the most natural version on the US Dietary database) – but it doesn’t have to be butter based.
      Best wishes – Zoe x
