What can I eat?

The Harcombe Diet® is about eating real food and ditching fake food. You won’t be counting calories, or points, or carbs, or starving every other day, or 2 days a week. You won’t be eating less – full stop. You’ll be eating better. This short video will explain the power of not counting calories, but making the calories you eat count.

The diet is in 3 Phases:

Phase 1 is just 5 days long (although it is recommended to stay on Phase 1 for longer if you have more than 20lb to lose and/or if you have marked Candida overgrowth). You can have unlimited meat, fish, eggs, vegetables (except potatoes/mushrooms), Natural Live (bio) Yoghurt, herbs, spices and one portion of ‘safe’ grains daily (brown rice, quinoa, oats).

Phase 2 is followed for as long as you need to lose weight. Fruit, dairy products, baked potatoes and whole grains are re-introduced, as works for you (the books hold your hand through all this).

Phase 3 is the lifelong weight maintenance plan. It’s how to eat ‘off-piste’ and keep the weight off. You’ll learn the rules of ‘cheating’ and see what you can get away with without re-gain.

    I started phase 1 yesterday and I’m nightshift on Thursday and Friday. We always bring snacks so looking for an option that I can contribute!! Can you eat crisps cooked in oil and only salt added? Thanks

      ‘Fat snacks’ tend to be a lot more satiating and are easy enough – thinks eggs, frittata, cold meats, cheese, pork scratchings….

    HI, Im loving the programme, Im now on phase 2, my question is, is there a list foods that can be eaten with either meal, Im a veggo, so under my eggs and cheese i love a bed of baby spinach with other salad stuff, is it all things without a face that are carbs or is there some foods that i can have in both meals, think i might have missed this somewhere, many thanks Wendy

    Good morning, I am coeliac so I already observe a strictly gluten-free diet. Please will you let me know if I can use gluten-free soy sauce (Tamari) for seasoning, in Phase 1? Many thanks in advance.

    hi, what is the difference between natural live yogurt and greek yogurt?

      As long as you need to get any cravings under control. This can be as short as 5 days or as long as a handful of weeks. Some stay on it for longer but most move to Phase 2 for increased variety (plus Ph2 is the weight-loss phase)

        If I need to lose 3 st how many days do you recommend to stay at phase 1?

          Stay on Phase 1 for an initial 5 days and see how you go. If you’ve still noticing the conditions at that point, extend another 5 days.

      Only in Phase 1 as it will upset you blood-glucose, which you should aim to keep as stable as possible

      To be honest, it will be hard as you have such a restricted range of food options within the rules of the various phases.
